Join us for a fun and educational program all about Bats. Using a variety of hands-on activities learn about these fascinating and oft time misunderstood creatures of the night. Families will get to be Bat science research teams and discover many of the Bats’ secrets. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Pre-registration is required.

Backyard Birds (ages 5+)
Have you ever wondered which song birds and woodpeckers are visiting your backyard birdfeeders? Join us to find out how to attract birds, what they eat, and how to identify the feathered friends that visit and live the park and your own backyard. Billy Graham Through the Decades
Designed to reflect Billy Graham’s journey from a humble farm boy to an international ambassador, the barn-shaped building is situated on 20 landscaped acres, only miles from where Billy Graham grew up in Charlotte, N.C. Retrace Billy Graham’s dynamic journey through stunning multimedia presentations, interactive kiosks, photos, and memorabilia. Registration includes: breakfast biscuit, lunch at the Billy Graham Library, transportation, and a trip guide. Dinner will be on your own at Cracker Barrel as we head home that evening.

Flora & Fauna: Intro to Historic Uses
Explore and discover the variety of flora and fauna of the park and find out how previous generations relied on the bounty of the forest to survive and thrive! Many basic needs such as food, medicine, shelter, clothes, household items, and more, can be found within the Explore Park boundaries! Test your horsemanship with a unique obstacle course challenge at the Niagara Ranch at Explore Park. Choose from a bring your own horse session on October 20 or use Reba Farm horses on November 17. Horseback Riding Wildlife Excursion
It's time to saddle up and experience the sights sounds of the local wildlife. Create and share homemade treats with some of the critters on a fun filled and scenic horseback trail ride. Following this, enjoy a delicious and hearty cowboy style meal at Reba Farm Inn's Bed and Breakfast. You'll then remount your horse and conclude the day with a ride back to the stables. No experience necessary. Transportation, dinner, helmets and all tack included. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. This trip meets at the Green Ridge and travels to Reba Farm's Bedford stables.

Mountain Biking 101
Leave the asphalt behind and let us get you in gear for the trails. Learn the basics of mountain biking with an International Mountain Bike Association certified instructor. They will provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to get out there on your own. Our guides also provide plenty of information on the best local trails and rides suited for your ability, which is helpful for anyone new to the sport. No experience necessary. Mountain bikes, helmets, and all instruction provided. Course will meet at the Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor's Center.

Spring Hollow Exploration
The Spring Hollow Reservoir holds 3.2 billion gallons of water and is used as an important drinking water source, but this protected space also serves as a haven for wildlife and natural beauty. Experience this watershed that is generally closed to the public with our partners from the Western Virginia Water Authority. We will begin with a five mile interpretive hike around the reservoir—including the opportunity to cross over the 990 foot long dam. Afterwards, we will tour the Spring Hollow Water Treatment Facility and learn more about our drinking water’s journey from the Roanoke River to the faucet. Please pack a lunch for the hike and a water bottle. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
